Masoor Daal

 Ingredients

  • 1 cup  split masoor daal  
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 inch grated ginger
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt as per needed 
  • chopped coriander for garnish

Method

  1. Soak Masoor daal for atleast 1 -2 hours
  2. Pressure cook with salt and turmeric powder upto 5-6 whistles. Let it cool.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and saute onions till  dark brown.
  4. Add in grated ginger and green chilli.
  5. Now put in the red chilli powder, garam masala and coriander powder.
  6. Put in the cooked daal and salt and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
