Dal Makhni

Ingredients

1/4 cup rajma
3/4 cup black urad dal
2 tbsp chopped onions
2 chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp butter/oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp red chilly powder
1/4 cup fresh cream (optional)

Method

1.Soak rajma and urad dal for overnight.
2.Pressure cook it nicely till soft. After it is cooled, mash it slightly, especially the rajma beans.
3.Grind together ginger-garlic, tomato and onions.
4.Now heat butter and add the above ground paste. Fry till oil separates. Put the red chilly powder.
5.Add this to the cooked black urad dal and rajma. Put in the water till the desired consistency and boil.
6.Lower the flame and then add the garam masala. Let it cook on slow flame for about 10 minutes.
7.Just before serving add the cream and serve hot.
